Bayern Munich – Dortmund 25.05.2013

Even though everybody expected a Spanish final in the Champions League, two German sides Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich will face each other at Wembley Stadium.

With both sides likely to adopt attack-minded approach, there is every chance we will see quite a few goals in the final.

Borussia Dortmund did remarkably well to knock out Spanish giants Real Madrid from the Champions League semi-finals. Jurgen Kloppˈs men totally outplayed the Spaniards, especially in the first leg (4:1). In Bundesliga, Bayern Munich put an end to the Millionairesˈ two-year dominance, the Bavarians were no less then 25 points clear of Borussia in the standings. Borussia Dortmund have been impressive up front this term, with the team scoring 81 goals in Bundesliga and 23 in the Champions League, and I believe that Jurgen Klopp will adopt another attack-minded approach in the final, as that is a key to the Millionairesˈ success. In the past the Millionaires used to produce poor performances on the travels, but in the last few years the team have been impressive on the road. Striker Robert Lewandowski has been in great form of late, and the Pole will be surely a man to watch at the Wembley stadium. Borussia are unlikely to clinch the Champions League trophy, but I think that they will net at least one goal against their compatriots.

The new German champions Bayern Munich could have a dream season, but in order to do so, the Bavarians need to defeat Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League final. Jupp Heynckesˈ team were excellent in Bundesliga and as impressive in the Champions League. Bayern Munich have not lost a game in all competitions since March, and the Champions League semi-final return leg against Arsenal, meaning that the team are brimming with confidence ahead of the clash against the Millionaires. Bastian Schweinsteigerˈ displays in the tie against Barcelona were brilliant and the German could be the key player for the Bavarians in the final. Borussia Dortmund do not suit the Bavarians, but this could be a perfect chance for the leaving boss Jupp Heynckes to lift yet another Champions League trophy. With Mario Mandukic up front, and Ribery, Muller and Robben behind him, the Bavarians are likely to at least score a goal at Wembley stadium.
