Bordeaux – Lille 19.10.2012
Bordeaux will be hoping to extend their unbeaten run to nine games when they welcome Lille to Stade Chaban-Delmas, while les Dogues have no choice but to go for a win following the dismal start to the league campaign.
Bordeaux produced quite a coup by winning the 2008/2009 league title, but the team have been pretty disappointing since. Les Girondins, however, made the right choice in appointing Francois Gillot last summer, with the former Sochaux coach helping the team return to old glory days. The positive approach has produced excellent results as the six-match winning run in season finale saw the team qualify for Europa League last term, while they continued in the same manner as the new season started. While the 3-0 Europa League defeat to Newcastle proved the back line needs to be improved, Bordeaux have yet to lose a Ligue 1 match this season, although that record will be put to a serious test against hungry Lille. With exactly 16 goals scored in Bordeaux’s 5 home games this term, we could easily see another high-scoring clash at Stade Chaban-Delmas.

Lille have establish themselves as genuine top table side over the last few years, but Rudi Garcia’s team have experienced unexpected problems this season. The departure of Eden Hazard cannot be an excuse for the poor results given that Ryan Mendes, Djibril Sidibe, Salomon Kalou and Marvin Martin all arrived in the summer, but it is more than evident the team have plenty of room for improvement. The 2-0 home win over Ajaccio was certainly a step in the right direction and with the international break helping coach Rudi Garcia stabilize the team, we should see a genuine improvement from les Dogues.
The return of Marvin Martin and Salomon Kalou will also be a huge boost for the underperforming side and we can see a few goals in my opinion.
