Real Sociedad – Levante 09.02.2014
Real Sociedad lost against Barcelona at Nou Camp in the first semifinal game of the Copa del Rey with 0:2 in the midweek, but the match could have turned out quite different.
In this game Arrasate made a lot of changes, as he even used much different tactics, putting three central midfielder and something like 3-5-2, which was performing to 5-3-2, when Sociedad was on defense. Also the manager chose to rest players like Aguirretxe, Xabi Prieto, Ruben Castro, Bergara, Caros Martinez, regular goalkeeper Claudio Bravo and it really looked like the La Liga match against Levante is much more important, as the Basques are still in the fight for the last Champions League spot.
Also at Anoeta the situation is much different, as Sociedad continues with their great and really impressive performance in front of their fans. The team is now on a run of six consecutive victories at Anoeta in La Liga, scoring the impressive twenty three goals in those matches.
Match: Real Sociedad – Levante 19.00h
League: Spain Primera Legaue
Our prediction: Home Win Odds: 1.50
Levante is showing great counter attacking skills lately and is unbeaten in their last four league matches, as they took a point from Barcelona at home and even beat Sevilla at Sanchez Pisjuan. But still, for me, they lack attacking power and with Vela and Griezmann in exceptional form, especially in their home games, I don’t think that the good play on counters will be enough, as the fast Sociedad midfielders and forwards and with the really good eye for great passes behind the opponents defense by Vela and Prieto, the visitors won’t stand a chance here. Also before the victory over Sevilla, Levante was on a run of four consecutive defeats on the road in La Liga and I don’t expect second positive result from them away from home, against two strong sides.
