Scunthorpe – Crewe 21.08.2012

Scunthorpe has crossed through a lot of changes this summer, manager Knill tries to put his mark over this team trying to inflict a more athletic approach, so many new players came.

Defender Mirfin returned to Scunny this looks like a big transfer movement, american attacker Grella also signed this summer, defender Newey the same. But Scunny looked bit out of gas in this start of the season although they secored a dramatic win in League Cup over Derby after being down 0-3 at the interval and 1-4 at some point. They were also down 5-3 with 10 minutes left but they scored 2 goals in stoppage time and after won at penalties although they looked bad.Kind of a lucky win but things got back to normal when they played in first round in League One and they lost badly at Crawley, 0-3 although the score is misleading as Scunny created many great chances, but like we can see, their defense is just not functional.

Crewe is promoted side from League Two and they have done that by playing very good and having a 19 games unbeaten run.Crewe kept most of the players and added few more quality signings. But their great run ended immediatelly as they played first game in League One, losing at home against Notts 1-2 altough the game was equal and Railways men showed good football at times with newly signing attacker Pogba scoring.Prior to that Crewe hammered Hartlepool in League Cup 5-0 with Pogba scoring twice at his debut.

I think Scunthorpe will be more aggresive here and those big chances missed at Crawley, last round, should turn into goals, they surely showed that they have goals in them scoring 5 against Derby, but on the other hand their defense is just not clicking at the moment and a good Crewe side will surely take advantage of that.I cant see who will win this game but i see a lots of chances in it, with both teams scoring and many goals in the end.
