Sunderland – Chelsea 08.12.2012
Chelsea continue to search for the first win in Premier League under the new coach Rafa Benitez. And I believe this is a perfect opportunity for the Blues.
The key reason for my pick is not Chelsea, but Sunderland. The Black Cats have only one home victory this season in the Premier League. That victory came more then two months ago, against Wigan on September 29th. At the moment Sunderland also play bad at home, they have two defeats and only one draw in the last three matches at the Stadium of Light.
The situation in Sunderland squad is also far from ideal. The striker Steven Fletcher got injured on the last match with Norwich, he was replaced at the halftime and now is rated as doubtful. John O’Shea is close to overcome the calf injury, but it seems this match come too early for him. Wes Brown and Lee Cattermole remaining long-term absentees.
Match: Sunderland – Chelsea 16.00h
League: England Premier League
Our prediction: Away Win Odds: 1.75
Chelsea will also miss some players. John Obi Mikel is suspended, while John Terry, Frank Lampard and Daniel Sturridge are still recovering from the injuries. However, the situation with the absentees can not be compared as Chelsea roster is much bigger.
I will also mention that Chelsea won 6:1 against Nordsjaelland on Wednesday. I am sure that victory raised the players confidence. Fernando Torres scored two goals, while Oscar, Mata, Cahill and David Luiz were also scorers. At the end about the tradition. Chelsea have a perfect record against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light in the last nine years. I beleive Chelse will continue the series.
