Sunderland – Man Utd 30.03.2013

Sunderland are involved into the relegation battle.

At the moment they are four points above the drop zone and every match is important for them. The Black Cats are also in poor form, loosing four of the last six Premier League matches.

On contrary, Manchester United is on the top of the table, massive 15 points ahead of the actual champion Manchester City. The Red Devils are also in good form, winning the last six Premier League matches. Sir Alex Ferguson’s team managed to beat Southampton, Fulham, Everton, QPR, Norwich and Reading. The atmosphere in the team is very good at the moment as Manchester is very close to win the title.

The key reason for my pick is based on the absentees in home team. Sunderland key striker Steven Fletcher is sidelined due to injury, just as Lee Cattermole. It is expected both players to miss the rest of the season. Fletcher is the team best goal-scorer with 11 goals in the Premier League. Sunderland have scored 33 goals this season, meaning that Fletcher scored a third of them. You realize how important he is. It is true that Ferguson also has some injured players (Nani, Paul Scholes and Phil Jones), but it is also true that Ferguson roster is much bigger and he do not depend too much on any player.

At the end I will mention that Manchester United have an excellent record at Stadium of Light – five victories and one draw on the last six visits. I believe Manchester will win again.
