I believe Fiorentina will win this match. The key reason for my pick is the situation in Atalanta squad.
Atalanta won 4:3 against Inter at Giuseppe Meazza on Sunday. The atmosphere in the squad is perfect after that victory and the players confidence are high. However, the coach Stefano Colantuono is facing big problem now, specially in the midfield. Three important players (which means the whole midfield) are suspended for this match – Carlos Carmona, Luca Cigarini and Cristian Raimondi. Carmona has played 16 matches and scored 2 goals, Cigarini has played 22 matches and scored 2 goals, while Raimondi has played 24 games and scored one goal. You realize how important they are. In addition, the defender Gianpaolo Bellini is injured, while the striker Guido Marilungo is still recovering from a serious cruciate ligament injury.
Fiorentina on other side played a dramatic match against Milan this weekend. Even they were two goals down (Milan had 2:0 after 62 minutes) and without one player (Nenad Tomovic received a red card in the first half), the Viola managed to equalize in a thriller match. Fiorentina form could be described as solid. They have three wins in the last five matches in Serie A.
The atmosphere in the squad is positive and Fiorentina is still in race for some European place. I think the coach Vincenzo Montella will go for the victory at Stadio Atleti Azzurri d’Italia in Bergamo, even he is facing some problems too (Nenad Tomovic is suspended, while Stevan Jovetic is injured).
At the end I will mention that Fiorentina won 4:1 the reverse fixture played in November. Alberto Aquilani was the player of the match with two goals, while Gonzalo Rodriguez and Luca Toni completed the victory. I expect Fiorentina to win again.
