Chile – Serbia 14.11.2012
Friendly international game that will be played on neutral grounds in St.Gallen, Switserland.
Chile, with experienced argentinean coach Claudio Borghi sitting on the bench surely will be looking for a win and comeback of their form after 4 losses in World Cup Qualification group stage. Their latest performance against Argentina where they lost at home by 1-2 makes them a must win situation next game against Peru in March. The match against Serbia will be one of the tests before that and team who has stars like Vargas (Napoli), Alexis Sanchez (Barcelona), Gary Medel (Sevilla), Arturo Vidal (Juventus), Matias Fernandez (Fiorentina) sure will be looking to put their things together after loosing twice to Ecuador, Colombia and Argentina. The motivation for me is clear.
Serbia has lost themselves in inside relations of their team and for me it looks like their new unprooven coach Sinisa Mihajlovic cannot put lines together. He has run altogether only 1 game with win against Wales, loosing 5 and drawing 2. Terrible score in World Cup Qualifications where ex Inter and Lazio star Mihajlovic didn’t call up some of the best players that Serbia has did recieve a negative nation/media response in Serbia, accusing him of tight relations with some Europe managers which can be explained of him choosing some very young unexperienced players for the 1st eleven. He has refused to put in the game Neven Subotic (Borrrusia Dortmund’s standard defender) or new uprising star of Helsingborg attacker Nikola Djurdjic who scored 10 goals in 11 games this seasson and who has attracted many big clubs. The problems seem big in team’s relationship with coach and I don’t see the misery of this team coming soon at the end. Some players resigned the team, some refused to come and most of them don’t give 100% of their capabilities. Their last poor result when they lost 1-0 to FYR Macedonia is the best example of team’s status at the moment.
Chile has to use this momentum and recover from their low form with Serbia struggling morale and confidence. Odds seem high but I do believe they will drop later this afternoon.
