Dallas Mavericks – Denver Nuggets 15.2.12
The Mavericks are back on track after three-game loosing run, Dallas goes for a season high-tying fifth straight victory on Wednesday night when it hosts a Nuggets team going for its fourth consecutive road win in this series.
Dallas was also already beaten twice by the visiting Nuggets this season. Especially the 115-93 thumping on December 26 hurts them a lot. Dallas surrendered 20 consecutive points in the second quarter of that contest and dropped its third in a row at home versus Denver. The Mavericks (18-11), though, have since shaken off their 0-3 start and are now on 4th position in the Western Conference standings. They are on a four-game winning streak, and Nowitzki deserves once again much of the credit for such a run. The All-Star should get some help under the boards with Brendan Haywood and Shawn Marion. Both played very good during the last four-game winning run of the Mavs.

The Nuggets (17-12) now make their final visit of the season to Dallas following Tuesday’s 109-92 home victory over the Phoenix Suns. Arron Afflalo contributed with 20 points to help Denver win its second straight, following a season-worst five-game loosing run. Denver has some injury worries ahead of this difficult road trip, as Nene, (total 17 rebounds in the two meetings with Dallas this season), could miss a second consecutive game. The Nuggets might also be without starting center Timofey Mozgov for a seventh straight game. That will for sure not make things easier for the Nuggets, as they will have problems in the paint. If both should be out tonight, the Nuggets must take more shots from downtown. In such a case it can go either way. On a good shooting night it goes well, but if the shooting percentage is low a loss is almost guaranteed.
Dallas is in form, but the tradition says that the Nuggets are a difficult opponent for the Mavs. Denver won both season encounters so far, but I doubt that they can repeat such an effort for the 3rd time. While looking at the tradition in matches between those two, I rather prefer to go for the over in this match-up. Also take note that 5 of Dallas’ last 6 went over. The same is true for the Nuggets. Even more impressive is the fact that the last 15 encounters between this two went over today’s line of 199.5 points. Therefore, take the over, even if the Nuggets could be decimated under the boards. Good luck!
