Elche – Atl. Madrid 30.11.2013

Having surprised Valencia at the weekend, Elche welcome Atletico Madrid at their Estadio Manuel Martinez Valero

on Saturday. Los Rojiblancos have enjoyed a dream start to the season and it remains to be seen if the newcomers are capable of stopping them.

Against all odds, newly-promoted Elche have been producing very good showings on their return to Spanish top flight. Ahead of their clash against Atletico Madrid, los Franjiverdes occupy 10th position in the standings and they will be looking to build on a promising display from the last weekend when they outplayed Valencia 2-1 on home soil. However, the newcomers were more than fortunate to pick up all three points from the clash at Estadio Manuel Martinez Valero as Los Che missed a number of clear chances to score during the match. Elche have been having their ups and downs in front of home fans this season and the team have recorded two wins, three losses and two draws in the new La Liga campaign to date. A man to watch in the home side will be Spanish attacker Coro, who has netted three goals in the league so far.

Following a third-place finish in Primera Division, Atletico Madrid have continued with outstanding displays in the new campaign. Los Rojiblancos have already secured their place in last 16 of the Champions League and they sit in second position in La Liga standings ahead of their trip to Elche. In order to grab the title from Barcelona, Diego Simeone’ men need to keep on winning and the newcomers look like an ideal opponent for the capital club to return to winning ways on the road following a 1-1 draw with Villarreal. At the weekend Atletico Madrid trashed city rivals Getafe 7-0, with Brazilian-Spanish striker Diego Costa netting his 18th goal in all competitions this term. The in-form attacker was rested in a 1-1 draw with Zenit in midweek and he will be fully fit and motivate to add yet another goal to his goal-scoring account on Saturday night. Diego Simeone rested several first-team regulars in Sankt Petersburg and I believe that there is a big value in betting on Los Rojiblancos this time out.
