Getafe – Valencia 18.05.2013

Boosted by a 4:0 trashing of Rayo Vallecano away from home, Valencia are one step closer to the Champions League qualifiers, but in order to secure their place in the elite competition, los Che need to win all of their last three league encounters.

As the season is coming to an end, Getafeˈs dip in form continues, nonetheless, two weeks ago el Geta did remarkably well to beat Real Sociedad, who are in Champions League places, at their Coloseum stadium. At the weekend Getafe got back to the losing ways following a 1:0 defeat at El Sadar against Osasuna. Luis Garciaˈs team looked unmotivated which is not a surprise as the team have nothing to play for, with three games to spare. El Geta are unlikely to book their place in the European competitions, but the most important thing for the team is the fact that they secured yet another La Liga survival. Taking all into account, I do not see a value in betting on Getafe against in-form Valencia side who are facing a must-win situation at Coliseum. When the two sides met earlier this season at Mestalla stadium Valencia won comprehensively 4:2, and I believe we are likely to see another goals galore this weekend, although los Che should win the clash.

Valenciaˈs display against Rayo Vallecano was brilliant, the team scored four goals without one of the best players Jonas, who was suspended. Thanks to this victory, Valencia are now level on points with Real Sociedad, with three games to spare, but the Basques have a better goal difference. Real Sociedad travel to Sevilla and they are unlikely to win all three points against one of the best hosts in La Liga, therefore, with a win against Getafe Valencia should climb to the fourth position in the standings. Ernesto Valverdeˈs men have lost just one of last 9 matches in all competitions, and I believe they are likely to continue the trend in Madrid this weekend. Getafe have nothing to play for and given that Valencia face Sevilla away from home in the last round of the campaign, I think the visitors are strong favourites to pick up vital three points from the clash at Coliseum.
