Haugesund – Aalesund 14.07.2013

Haugesund are currently sixth with 23 points. They are in good form at the moment, particularly after the last weekend’s win over the leader Stromgodset.

Haugesund played well on that match and deserved the victory. The midfielder Michael Haukas scored the final goal on that match. I believe the confidence of all players are very high now. That was the second consecutive home victory for Haugesund. Before that they managed to beat another tough team, Brann.

I will also mention that Haugesund beat the actual champions Molde with a very high result – 5:1. It is clear Haugesund have a strong and respectable team. Coach Jostein Grindhaug is doing an excellent job. For this match he will be missing the suspended Eirik Maeland. Aalesund are also close to the top of Tippeligaen. They are third on the table, but something else is important – Aalesund away form is very bad.

Four defeats and just one draw showed big weaknesses when play away from home.

At this point I will mention that Aalesund played poor on the last match, against Songdal at home. They had 2:1 lead during the second half, they also had one player more (Sigimane Sagna from Songdal was sent off), but allowed to concede a goal in the finish of the match and dropped two important points. The result was a big disappointment for the fans, as well as for the players.

At the end I will mention that Haugesund have three victories on the last three home games against Aalesund.

I believe they will win again. They have the home advantage, the players confidence are high and they have a good home record. Having on mind Aalesund’s bad away form, I expect Haugesund to win this match.
