Huesca – Sporting Gijon 25.05.2013

Huesca face a must-win situation at home ground when they square off against Sporting Gijon, who have nothing to play for, with three games to spare. Huesca will be searching for their first win following a five-match winless run, but the team need to put a lot of effort against los Rojiblancos if they are to pick up all three points at their El Alcoraz stadium.

After another turbulent season, Huesca are in a dangerous situation and the team are likely to fight for Segunda division survival for yet another term. Jorge DˈAlessandroˈs men currently occupy 21st position in the standings and they are five points adrift of Mirandes, who are safe at the moment. Following five consecutive games without a win, Huesca are desperate to pick up all three points at their El Alcoraz stadium when they welcome Sporting Gijon. With two wins, against Sporting Gijon and against already relegated Xerez side, Huesca could climb the standings, even to the safe zone, therefore, I believe that Jorge DˈAlessandroˈs team should go all guns blazing at their opponents this weekend. Given that Sporting Gijon visit Huesca without number of first team players and considering that the hosts are facing a must-win situation in this clash, a home win seems like a good bet.

With three games to spare Sporting Gijon have nothing to play and Jose Ramon Sandoval has a number of injury worries ahead of the encounter against Huesca. Sporting Gijon were on a verge of booking their place in the Primera division play-offs, but los Rojiblancos were on a three-game losing run, before defeating the likes of Cordoba and Xerez in the last two rounds. Jose Sandovalˈs men are currently six point adrift of Ponferradina, who are likely to book their place in the Primera division play-offs, meaning that los Rojiblancos visit Huesca with a lack of motivation. Sporting Gijon have turned their El Mollinon stadium into a real fortress over the years, but the team often struggle when playing on the road. Los Rojiblancos have a lot of injury problems ahead of the clash against Huesca, meaning they will have to show a great performance if they are to get something from this game, but I believe the team will return home empty-handed as they have nothing to play for in the clash.
