Mirandes – Villareal 31.03.2013

Villareal are facing relegation-threatened Mirandes after disappointing draw with Recreativo Huelva last week. Both sides will be looking for a win because Mirandes are trying to avoid the relegation and Villareal are looking for a return to Primera division.

Last year Mirandés became only the second team from Spain’s Second Division B ever to play in the semifinal of the Copa del Rey, but that is now in the past. After two consecutive defeats against Alcorcon and Girona, Carlos Pouso’s side is looking for a home win which will keep them alive in the battle for survival in Segunda division. Mirandes are likely to play all out defence and wait for their chance on counter-attacks. Mirandes’ last 15 home games this season produced just 23 goals in total. Important defender Raul Garcia and the striker Pablo will be back to the starting line-up after missing the last week’s encounter. Mirandes will try to avoid the defeat against powerful Villareal side, but that is easier said then done. Earlier this season The Yellow Submarine won easily 2:0 at El Madrigal.

On the other hand, Villarreal missed a chance to climb to 4th in the league standings at their El Madrigal. The Yellow Submarine could only manage a 1:1 draw last week against Recreartivo that ended a three-match winning streak. This Sunday Villarreal are facing out-of-sorts Mirandes and Marcelino’s side is very motivated to get back to wining ways. Important midfielder Bruno Soriano, who missed last week’s encounter duo to suspension, will be back to the starting line-up. Midfielder Manu Trigueros is also back after missing out the game against Recreativo Huelva. The veteran and ex La Roja player Marcos Senna is doubtful because he missed the last training session. Villarreal’s last visit was the beginning of the end of life in the Primera. Can this visit spark the return? One thing is sure: The Yellow Submarine are strong favorites to win this clash.
