Montpellier – Arsenal 18.09.2012
Ligue 1 champions Montpellier start their Champions League campaign at home against Arsenal, a team that are slowly recovering from the poor start of the season.
Montepellier were making a lot of waves last season, and they eventually managed to beat Paris Saint-Germain to the Ligue 1 title, which was clearly an incredible achievement. While selling top scorer Olivier Giroud to Arsenal, MHSC managed to hold on to all other key players, while signing few talented footballers as well. However, things haven’t been going as planned this term, with Rene Girard’s men largely struggling at the start of the season. Montpellier not only lost the Trophee des Champions match (French Super Cup) to Lyon, but went on to take just four points from first five league games, with 3-1 defeat to Reims probably the lowest point of their campaign so far. Taking all this into consideration, as well as team’s inexperience at the European stage, one has no choice but to back Arsenal here.

There are again a lot of calls for Arsene Wenger to resign after letting go of Robin van Persie and Alex Song, but I, nonetheless, believe the Gunners again have a very competitive squad. New signing Santi Cazorla has been an instant hit at the Emirates, with the Spaniard clicking well with Mikel Arteta and Abou Diaby, while Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud are also showing signs of promise. Following the goalless draws against Sunderland and Stoke, the Gunners have impressed to record 2-0 win at Anfield before trashing Southampton 6-1, so they clearly have plenty of reasons to hope for a third straight victory in all competitions.
I think Arsenal have fair chanses to win tonight but i will try draw no bet on away team.
