Portugal – Spain 27.06.2012

I see a real tight battle in this one. Spain hasn’t impressed me a lot with their performances but they are getting the job done so far and their defense is looking better every match.

It’s now 3 straight clean sheets for them with the only conceded goal coming in the 1st round against Italy. They haven’t been themselves offensively however, not creating the amount of chances we are used to see. Playing without a striker on few occasions is certainly a big reason for that. I think probably Torres starts tonight and they play somewhat more offensive however but I see a tougher opponent in Portugal tonight.

The Portuguese haven’t really played a bad match here. The 1st round loss vs Germany came towards the end of the match and though they didn’t impress that much, Portugal played a decent tactical match against the solid Germans. They also had few chances to equalize afterwards and it wouldn’t have been unjust. They should have killed Denmark easily if it wasn’t for Ronaldo’s inefficiency and they completely overplayed Holland and the Czechs. Ronaldo looks to be getting in form and together with Nani they form a very dangerous duo. I believe they will be a menace for the Spanish defense and will threaten early and often. A tight match, a possible 1-1 at the end of the 90 minutes is my call. For this game I suggest a lot of realistic bet bet on which will see a draw at halftime or the end of the match.
