Sampdoria – Catania 08.12.2013

Sampdoria play awful in the new season and they are second from the bottom.

The fans are disappointed and there are lot of pressure on the players. The former coach Delio Rossi paid the prize. He was fired and the former Serbian national team coach Sinisa Mihajlovic was brought in. He said:- My first objective is to save Sampdoria from the threat of relegation, then I hope the club will return among the greats, where it deserves to be.

I see some positive signs at the moment as Sampdoria are unbeaten on the last two matches iOnly one team are worse then Sampdoria in Serie A at the moment – the last placed Catania. The Sicilians have just 9 points after the 14 rounds and occupy the last place. What is even more important, their away form is catastrophic – seven defeats in seven matches on road.

But the bad form isn’t the only problem for the coach Luigi De Canio. In addition, he has two banned players, both very important in the midfield. Panagiotis Tachtsidis and Pablo Barrientos will not play here through suspensions. Tachtsidis has played 12 from the possible 14 games so far, while Barrientos has played 9 and scored 3 goals. You realize how important they are.

At the end I will mention that Sampdoria have a good mutual record against Catania at Stadio Luigi Ferraris in Genoa. The Blucerchiati have four wins and three draws on the last seven matches. I expect another positive result for the hosts.
