Sassuolo – Inter 22.09.2013

Okay, this should be a pretty easy game to call.

Sassuolo, newly promoted to Serie A, has proven itself unable to handle the transition to the top league so far.  They have lost all 3 of their games by a combined score of 8-1.  And when you consider the competiton Sassuolo faced in those games, it makes them seem even worse. Their first game was a 2-0 loss away to Torino (who came up to Serie A last season and finished in 16th place); their next loss was on their own home field 1-4 against Livorno (a fellow newly promoted team to Serie A); and their most recent loss was 2-0 away to Hellas Verona (also promoted to Serie A this season with Sassuolo and Livorno).

So when Sassuolo hasn’t even been able to be competitive against the lower teams and teams they were competing against last season in Serie B, I don’t see how they could possibly compete against a deeply established team like Inter.  They have had a positive start to the seaso fuelled by the arrival of their new coach (ex-Napoli) Walter Mazzarri and even managed to tie the mighty Juventus last week. Also weighing against Sassuolo, is that they have just lost starting central  defender Terranova to injury.  For me Inter to win, too much class, too much quality, too much talent, no contest. For me this is a clear away win. GL
