Top football transfers this summer
As every summer, it was busy time for football clubs, players, agents, media and of course fans. There were many predictions about which favourite player will sit in the first place of top football transfers list.
On the recent years, strikers were always standing in the first place considering transfer fees; but there was a unexpected man at the top this year.
In 2011/12, Paris St Germain were not happy with their defensive performance. Title holder Montpellier recorded thirteen clean sheets at home in the league; but PSG could record six at home. This could be the key factor of losing in the title race. That is why they signed Thiago Silva from AC Milan. Brazilian centre-back, who spent three years in Italian side, acted as a starter for thirty-seven times last season. With a transfer fee of €42m, he became the most expensive transfer of this summer.
The second place is shared by two young players; because both players were transferred with a fee of €42m. It should not be a big surprise that both are attacking midfielders; because we are used to see offensive minded players in the high placed of the list.
The first one is Eden Hazard who moved to Chelsea from Lille. He showed a perfect performance with 20 goals and 22 assists in the last season. He has already proved that he is a right man to transfer as he has recorded one goal and 6 assists in three league fixtures.
The next one is a promising man like Lucas Moura who stepped on his twentieth age in last month. He has spent the last three years in Sao Paulo.
On the recent days, coach Jose Mourinho added Luka Modric from Tottenham. Croatian midfielder was the biggest transfer of Los Galacticos in 2012/13. Last season, he was an important figure in fourth places Tottenham which passed Chelsea and Liverpool in the table.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is holding the second place in all times’ transfer records list, also appeared in this summer’s list. With his transfer to PSG from AC Milan, he made his sixth transfer in last nine years. Considering his last year’s performance with 28 goals and 10 assists, he is a great transfer for French side which have already Hoarau, Lavezzi and Gameiro.
Robin van Persie’s move to Manchester United was a sensational one on the late days of summer. Dutch man was absolutely a key man for Arsenal last year as he has recorded 30 goals and 14 assists. Now, manager Arsene Wenger will think about stopping him when facing the Red Devils.{jcomments on}
