Verona – Milan 24.08.2013
Verona will play in Serie A again after a pause of 11 years. It is expected a full Stadio Bentegodi on Saturday, especially because they are welcoming one of the best clubs in Italy, AC Milan.
Verona secured the direct promotion after finishing second in Serie B last season. The coach Andrea Mandorlini has a relatively inexperienced, but talented players. During the Summer transfer window he brought some famous names like Luca Toni, Massimo Donati and Daniele Cacia. It remain to be seen how the team will work together.
Verona already played one official match. They managed to beat the former Serie A side Palermo in Coppa Italia. On Saturday Verona won 1:0 at Sicily with only goal scored by Luca Toni. The victory will surely have a positive impact to the players confidence. That was the fourth consecutive win for Verona including the friendly preseason games. By the way, Verona managed to beat some respectable names like Feyenoord and Konyaspor.

AC Milan played against Dutch side PSV in the qualifications for UEFA Champions League group stage on Tuesday. Milan had a 1:0 lead during the first half with Stephan El Shaarawy’s goal, but failed to keep the net untouched. However, the result is not bad at all and Milan are very close to the group stage. But that match hide a potential danger for Milan as all the players will be focused on PSV instead of Verona. Still, the coach Massimiliano Allegri is ensuring otherwise. He said for Milan TV Channel after the match in Eindhoven:
– I think that San Siro on Wednesday evening will be full because we are playing in the Champions League. But from tomorrow we’ll think about the game against Verona, where we have to do well.
This match is important for Milan from other reason too. This is the 4000th competitive match for the Rossoneri in their 113 years history. I believe Milan players will give the maximum and I expect the first three points for the Rossoneri. Simply, the quality and experience are on their side.
