Bayern Munich – Wolfsburg 16.04.2013

Bayern coach Jupp Heynckes will like to finish the season in style.

I am sure he will ask the maximum from his players to reach the DFB-Pokal final. He announced the strongest possible squad for this match after Manuel Neuer, Philipp Lahm, Dante, David Alaba, Javi Martinez, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Mario Mandzukic were rested on Saturday’s match against Nurnberg. Even without them Bayern was furious and won 4:0 with goals scored by Jerome Boateng, Mario Gomez, Rafinha and Xherdan Shaqiri. Now Heynckes will be fully focused on the cup, the next weekend match against Hannover is not important as the Bavarians already secured the Bundesliga title.

Bayern is in great form. They played 17 games in 2013 and won 16 of them, loosing only from Arsenal in Champions League. Even that defeat could not be described as bad result as Bayern managed to eliminate the Gunners.

Wolfsburg coach Dieter Hecking has some problems in front of this match. Makoto Hasebe has a disappointing performance against Hoffenheim on Saturday and will be replaced by Bas Dost. Two more players are sidelined due to injuries – Vaclav Pilar (knee) and Vieirinha (muscle strain).

I expect at least four goals at Allianz Arena in Munich. Bayern strikers are in excellent form, four goals could be scored only be their side. But Wolfsburg strikers are able to score too. They have scored and conceded goals on every of the last eight matches. Even as guest Wolfsburg played that way. They managed to score six goals on the last two visits, one goal in Leverkusen (06.04) and five goals in Freiburg (09.03) when Wolfsburg won 5:2. Anyway, with or without Wolfsburg goals, I expect at least four in Munich.
