Rapid Bucuresti – Vaslui 22.07.2012

Top clash of the first round between 2 teams that suffered a lot of changes, many new players, especially for Vaslui, and both teams with new coaches.

Traditionally, Vaslui never won at Rapid, no matter how much better squad they have they always tend to suffer on Rapid’s ground.This year might be an exception since Vaslui has an ex-Rapid coach, Sumudica and also some players that played for Rapid such as gk Copman or reserve attacker Sburlea.Rapid already played an official game in EL preliminary rounds, against MyPa and it wasnt nothing spectacular, just a routine victory against an inferior opponent from quality point of view.Rapid didnt impressed and like coach Sabau said team still has no rhythm and from physicall point of view teams is definitelly not at 100 %, in fact there are some problems from this point of view since last training preparation stage from Scotland wasnt successful, many friendlies being postponed due to bad weather.But the team suffers also from defensive point of view, cpt Marcos Antonio left to Nurenberg and Abrudan was bought as replacement, but he’s very slow and average.Rest of CDs are also slow and i dont see Rapid capable of managing a clean sheet here.Also gk position looks bit problematic after the loss of Coman, Albut already made a mistake against MyPa and looked shaky overall.Rapid is usually strong home team and has decent offensive weapons.

Vaslui bought like two teams this summer, they really have money to spend and they transfered good players:Antal, Salageanu from Otelul, top-scorer Niculae from Dinamo, defenders Varela(Feirense), Celeban (Slask) just to name a few.They do have money but they miss the knowledge to spend them and also the rich owner doesnt have patience, they change the coach at least once per season, some times much more.This summer was no exception and in spite of some good results they fired portuguese coach Inacio which did an awesome job in my opinion and named a young coach just with 2 weeks before the start of new season.Pretty amateurish, but that’s Vaslui.They changed almost entire defesive line, only Milanov left there, Celeban and Varela never played together in central of defense so defense will suffer.Vaslui has great offensive players and will cause problems to a very shaky Rapid defense.I see this as an interesting game, enjoyable with both teams suffering from defensive point of view and since both have offensive threats i see this going with.
