Newcastle – Wigan 03.12.2012

Newcastle is in series of four consecutive defeats in the Premier League. They lost from Stoke, Southampton, Swansea and West Ham.

The atmosphere in the squad is very bad and the players confidence are low. The situation is even more complicated as the manager Alan Pardew will be without many players. James Perch is suspended after collecting his fifth booking of the campaign at Stoke on Wednesday evening, while several others are injured – Steven Taylor, Hatem Ben Arfa, Gabriel Obertan, Yohan Cabaye and Shola Ameobi.

Wigan lost from Manchester City, Liverpool and West Bromwich Albion, but won against Reading. The manager Roberto Martínez also has some players struggling with injuries. Albert Crusat, Ben Watson, Ryo Miyaichi, Shaun Maloney, Antolin Alcaraz and Ivan Ramis are definitely sidelined, while Gary Caldwell and David Jones are rated as doubtful.

I believe the Magpies are closer to the victory. They have the home advantage, they are more experienced team and they have excellent home record against Wigan. The Latics have never won in six Premier League visits to St James Park, losing four times.
