QPR – Liverpool 30.12.2012

Queens Park Rangers returned to the Premiership rock bottom following defeats to Newcastle and West Brom, and the Rangers will now attempt to boost their survival hopes by beating Liverpool.

The Reds ended the good run of results at the Britannia Stadium, but they will still fancy their chances against out-of-sorts QPR.

The much-needed victory over Fulham helped the Rangers see light at the end of the tunnel, but it was soon same old for Harry Redknapp’s side. The Rs were defeated by both Newcastle and West Brom to slip back to the bottom of the standings and now face a mountain to climb in their attempt to kick-start their season. The only positive thing is that QPR have finally started scoring goals, even if they should be netting much more given the number of chances they are creating. The back line, however, has suffered from the absence of Julio Cesar and Jose Bosingwa, and with Ryan Nelsen a major doubt for the Liverpool clash, the defensive headache looks likely to continue. In spite of all the problems, QPR have no choice but to attack their opponents from the off, which should guarantee us an exciting match at Loftus Road.

Liverpool have been terribly inconsistent this season and that is likely to cost them the opportunity to fight for European places. Huge reliance on star forward Luis Suarez is another reason for this, although Steven Gerrard has finally started contributing to the attacking department as well. After winning three of their last four Premier League fixtures, the Reds did well to take the lead at Britannia Stadium, but quickly squandered it and ended up losing 3-1. Liverpool players are aware they won’t get many chances better than this one to record an away victory, so we should see attack-minded Reds at Loftus Road. With their last three away fixtures featuring a total of 12 goals, there is every chance we will see another high-scoring match.
